1. Acceptance of Terms
By visiting any branch of MUSTABAL SPECIALITY EYE CLINIC, registering as a patient, using our website, or engaging with our administrative system, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. These terms apply to all patients, visitors, and users of our digital platforms.
If you do not agree to any part of these terms, you are advised not to proceed with registration or treatment at our facility. MUSTABAL SPECIALITY EYE CLINIC reserves the right to update these terms at any time, and continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
2. Scope of Medical Services
MUSTABAL SPECIALITY EYE CLINIC provides the following specialist ophthalmic services in Jigjiga, Ethiopia:
• Comprehensive eye examinations including visual acuity testing, intraocular pressure measurement, and retinal evaluation
• Advanced diagnostic imaging including OCT, fundus photography, and visual field testing
• Ophthalmic surgical procedures including cataract extraction, pterygium excision, and glaucoma management
• Optical dispensing of prescription glasses, contact lenses, and corrective aids
• Ophthalmic pharmacy services including prescription medications, post-operative eye drops, and lubricants
All medical services are delivered by qualified ophthalmologists, optometrists, and trained clinical support staff. The clinic does not provide general medical, dental, or non-ophthalmic care.
3. Patient Responsibilities
Patients at Mustabal Speciality Eye Clinic are expected to:
• Provide accurate, truthful, and complete personal and medical information at the time of registration and throughout treatment
• Disclose all relevant medical history, including existing conditions, current medications, allergies, and prior eye surgeries
• Attend scheduled appointments on time or give a minimum of 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule
• Follow all pre-operative and post-operative instructions provided by the clinical team
• Refrain from self-medication or altering prescribed treatment without consulting a clinic physician
• Treat all clinical staff with respect; any abusive, threatening, or disruptive behaviour will result in removal from the premises and possible refusal of future services
Failure to provide accurate information that leads to clinical errors is the sole responsibility of the patient.
4. Fees, Payments & Refunds
Consultation Fees: All consultations are subject to the fee schedule displayed at the clinic. Fees are subject to change and will be communicated prior to service delivery.
Payment Methods: Mustabal Speciality Eye Clinic accepts cash (Ethiopian Birr and US Dollar), CBE Birr, and mobile bank transfers. Payments are required at the time of service unless a prior credit arrangement has been authorised by clinic management.
Optical Orders: A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required when placing custom lens or frame orders. The balance is due upon collection.
Surgical Procedures: A procedure deposit must be paid in advance to confirm the surgical booking. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled procedure may forfeit the deposit.
Refund Policy: Refunds are processed only where a service was demonstrably not delivered or where an overpayment has occurred. Clinical consultations are non-refundable once the consultation has commenced. Disputes must be raised with the clinic manager within 7 working days of the service date.
5. Appointments & Waiting Times
Appointments can be booked in person at the clinic, by telephone, or via the Staff Portal by an authorised clinic representative.
Patients are advised to arrive 10 minutes before their scheduled time to allow for registration. The clinic operates a queue management system and attendance time slots are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis within each appointment category (New, Follow-up, Return).
Mustabal Speciality Eye Clinic strives to adhere to scheduled appointment times; however, emergencies and complex cases may cause delays. The clinic is not liable for delays caused by unforeseen clinical circumstances.
Walk-in patients are accepted subject to capacity and will be seen after all booked appointments are completed.
Working Hours: Saturday – Thursday, 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM. The clinic is closed on Fridays except for genuine ophthalmic emergencies, at the sole discretion of the on-call staff.
6. Medical Confidentiality & Data Privacy
All patient medical records, examination results, prescriptions, and personal information collected at Mustabal Speciality Eye Clinic are treated as strictly confidential in accordance with Ethiopian healthcare legislation and internationally recognised medical ethics.
Patient data is stored securely in our digital management system with role-based access control. Only authorised clinical staff directly involved in your care will have access to your records.
We may share your information without prior consent only in the following circumstances:
• Where required by a court order or regulatory authority
• Where there is an immediate risk to your life or the life of another person
• For anonymised clinical audit and quality improvement activities

7. Limitation of Liability
Mustabal Speciality Eye Clinic and its medical staff exercise all reasonable professional care and skill in delivering services. However:
• The clinic does not guarantee specific clinical outcomes, as results vary between individual patients depending on their ocular health, age, and response to treatment
• The clinic is not liable for adverse outcomes arising from incomplete or inaccurate information provided by the patient
• The clinic is not responsible for optical products manufactured by external suppliers; any manufacturing defects must be raised directly with the clinic optical team within 14 days of collection
• In no event shall the clinic's total liability for any claim exceed the total amount paid by the patient for the specific service giving rise to the claim

8. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
If a dispute arises between a patient and Mustabal Speciality Eye Clinic, we encourage both parties to first attempt to resolve the matter amicably through direct communication with clinic management.
If a satisfactory resolution is not reached within 30 calendar days, either party may refer the matter to the appropriate regulatory health authority in Ethiopia or seek redress through the civil courts of Jigjiga, which shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
